How to Re-activate Classic Widgets

Last Updated on April 20, 2022 by WP Knowledge Hub

WordPress is the most popular open-source CMS in the world, so it’s not surprising that WordPress releases a new version very frequently!

A recent release made a major change to the way WordPress manages widgets, and it now uses the Guttenberg block editor to do that. If you are one of the many people who prefer the Classic Editor, you probably prefer Classic Widgets as well.

Restoring and enabling the WordPress classic widgets screen is very simple and straightforward and can be done by installing and activating a simple plugin.

Restore WordPress Classic Widgets

Go to PluginsAdd New and search for the plugins “Classic Widgets” by WordPress Contributors

That is all! Once that’s done, simply return to Appearance > Widgets to see the classic widgets screen.
